Eight Seconds of Mechanical Coffee Picking

Believe it or not, this is coffee picking, not tree trimming and shredding. Whole branches are cut from the coffee shrub with cherries intact and separated by machine on the spot. I’ve never seen anything like it. Couple of things to consider: these same shrubs do grow coffee again the following year, labor in Brazil is a big issue with construction in the urban areas claiming a majority of the workforce. Development of cherry sorting equipment that comes from this is pretty impressive and a lot of good/interesting things have come from that.
