Liquid Amber and Altiplano are in the works, and we’ve reduced the price on two of our blends.
For those patiently waiting for Liquid Amber and Altiplano to be back in stock, reinforcements are on the way. We initially had trouble finding a suitable replacement for Monsoon Malabar, a key ingredient in Liquid Amber, but have since contracted two excellent lots that start arriving mid-June. As soon as they’re available, Liquid Amber will follow suit. We hope to add Altiplano a few weeks later, but this all depends on the timing of our Central American arrivals. This blend is composed entirely of Central American coffees, which saw a late harvest this year and late shipments as a result.
We are also pleased to announce the price of New Classic has been reduced to $8.75 per pound, and Espresso Monkey to $8.95 per pound. The unprecedented cost of Brazilian coffee pushed both above $9.00, and even forced us to make them unavailable momentarily. We’ve since been able to secure a non-tariff’d option which is the primary basis for this discount.
It’s been a year of high market levels and tariffs on coffee, but we’re finally starting to see some pricing relief. It’s a slow pullback, and not all coffees are seeing the same drop in price. However, lower cost coffees are trickling in, and we’re passing those savings onto you where we can.

It’s important to point out that even though we’re seeing some relief, most lower priced coffees are still at originIn coffee talk, it refers to a coffee-producing region or country; such as, "I was just at origin." Of course "Origin" for most product we use is not... ...more countries or on the water. The reality is, most of our inventory still consists of expensive coffee. Additionally, prices have remained relatively high in some of the producing countries we source from, so some of the savings this year will be nominal for other coffees used in blends.
We will continue to rely on the same high quality coffee for blends that we buy for our single originSingle Origin refers to coffee from one location, in contrast to blended coffee. This strategy resulted in higher blend prices last year, and even running out when the quality target for certain ingredients couldn’t be met. One thing we won’t do, is sacrifice the quality of our blends. Looking ahead, we’ve worked to secure longer supplies of key ingredients that should help avoid gaps in availability, and hopefully help with price stability too. We will keep you updated with any changes down the line.
