Behmor Celebrates Coffee Farmers in Guatemala (thanks to you!)

Joe Behm has had a longstanding relationship with Guatemala farmers to give back to the coffee producers

While it seems like we should all be thanking Joe for what he does (and we are!) … he actually sent an email thanking our customers… thanking you all. His point? Without all those people who buy BehmorA popular electric drum roaster designed for home use, with variable batch sizes (from 1/4 pound to 1 pound) and a smoke-reduction system. It has been modified and... ...more coffee roasters for home roasting, he wouldn’t be able to offer support to the coffee community in Guatemala.

In association with the Guatemala coffee association (ANACAFE) and their foundation called FunCafe, Behmor sponsors a 2 day event for farmers that includes distributing water filtration systems for every household, as well as free medical care, ultrasounds, and dental checkups.

It’s a fun fair too, with food and games, pinatas, and other events for the kids including reading / math challenges.

Joe noted, “Amazing how many adults and kids have never been to a dentist. One woman brought her children up to me, to show they had their teeth cleaned for the first time! Unfortunately a large number also needed to have at least 1 tooth pulled.”
