Guatemalan coffee is considered a top quality coffee producer in Central America. Due to our proximity to Guatemala, some of the nicest coffees from this originIn coffee talk, it refers to a coffee-producing region or country; such as, "I was just at origin." Of course "Origin" for most product we use is not... come to the United States. : Guatemalan growing regions vary in their potential cup quality: many have sufficient altitude, soil and climate conditions. Antiguas are well-known and highly rated, and increasingly nearby Acatenango is getting due recognition. Huehuetenango from the north highland can be exceptional and have distinct fruit flavors from higher altitudes. Other zones are Chimaltenango as well as Coban, Fraijanes and Quiche. Atitlan has produced some very fine coffees in the past few years. Our focus is on Huehuetenango, Antigua, Acatenango, Chimaltenango and another zone Patzun.
