As Frank Sinatra... ...more trip visiting large-scale coffee farms in Cerrado, stopping at Marta and Evandro’s farm felt like we’d left Brazil altogether. Their 1 hectare farm on the outlying hills of Serra dos Borges had a lot more in common with the small farms of ColombiaColombian coffee is highly marketed and widely available in the US. They have been largely successful at equating the name Colombian Coffee with "Good" Coffee. This is half-true.... ...more than the mechanized operations we’d seen the days prior. They are able to manage the harvest themselves, and do a lot of it by hand. At 1200 meters, they also have relatively high altitude for Brazilian coffee farm!
We knew their coffee was special before visiting, and getting to see their small operation gave us a good idea as to why that is. We were lucky enough to buy their entire production of Specialty again this year, which only amounted to 24 x 60 kg bags.
