In November Dan and I made the rounds in Huila, Cauca and Antioquia ColombiaColombian coffee is highly marketed and widely available in the US. They have been largely successful at equating the name Colombian Coffee with "Good" Coffee. This is half-true..... We went to regions and farms from which we source coffee, places we have visited before. And we visited some new farmers who we discovered via the cuppingCupping is a method of tasting coffee by steeping grounds in separate cups for discrete amounts of ground coffee, to reveal good flavors and defects to their fullest.... table, to find out why and how they were producing quality coffee. This self-shot iphone video might not be slick, but since I make these video notes to help record travel thoughts, it seems worth sharing. I hope you find some humor here and maybe some new and nuanced information about coffee.
