Focusing in on transit updates for coffees incoming and on the way.
One of the number one questions our customer service team gets this time of year is, “when will <insert coffee country> be back in stock again”? It’s an inquiry that seems particularly pressing in the early Summer months where we often see gaps in availability of certain countries on our list. Our supply of coffees from the previous harvest has mostly dried up, and anticipation is building. Believe me when I say, we’re right there with you.
Thankfully, we have good news to share about shipments from several coffee origins on the way. In this Outlook we zoom in on key origins arriving over the next month. For those wanting more granular detail, check out the full list of coffees on the water at the end.

Central America
Central American coffees are some of the most highly anticipated arrivals by our customers, and Guatemala tops the list. Our first two containers arrive this month (1 container = approx. 40,000 pounds of coffee), with two more on the way in early August. The first shipments include coffees from Tectitlan, Chimaltenango, and Antigua, and we hope to start rolling these out to the site next week. Coffees from our small-producer Xinabajul project in Huehuetenango are right behind them, with an ETA of early August.
Costa Rican coffees begin trickling in later this week, and we expect to have them in our warehouse by the end of July. Included in this first round of coffees are washed and honey process lots from mills like La Casona, Don Oscar, Los Angeles, Sumava, as well as the return of Helsar de Zarcero. We even picked up a few vacuum sealed boxes of Helsar Cascara that we are thrilled to bring back to our offer list!
We also have a container from Nicaragua landing this week. Once again, we returned to the Valladarez family for our coffees, sourcing several lots from their farms under the “Cafetalera Buenos Aires” umbrella. This container includes many familiar farm names, like La Laguna, Ojo de Agua, and of course, Buenos Aires. We were also lucky enough to pick up a very small lot of dry process Gesha from Los Alpes, who happened to deliver the winning lot at this year’s Nicaragua Cup of Excellence competition (Natural / Honey category).

Africa
We’ve received four containers of fresh Ethiopian coffees over the past two weeks. You’ve probably seen our first dry process lots hit this site already, but these are only the tip of the iceberg. Just today, Tom cupped arrival samples from seven different washing stations in Yirga Cheffe and Guji, which we are bringing in-house this week. But we haven’t even hit the halfway point. The second wave of new-crop Ethiopia’s will start hitting the Oakland port in 2-3 weeks, and includes several Organic lots from longtime coop suppliers like Nano Challa, Duromina, and Birbirsa. Look out for Hambela Dabaye later this week!
We’re very excited about the container from Uganda that landed over the weekend. We’ve struggled to finding our footing in Uganda, so when the opportunity arose to re-connect with an old supplier we used to work with, we found ourselves hopping on a plane to make a visit. He and his team have spent the last few years setting up washing stations in Rwenzori region, working with small holders to promote a quality-focused Arabica program. The coffees we purchased are from this project, and we are pushing to list our first lots the last week of July. In the meantime, check out Tom’s video where he talks a bit about his Uganda visit at the end of last year.
Indonesia & SE Asia
Tom just returned from a trip to Indonesia, visiting farmers and cooperatives in both Sumatra and Java. The coffee harvest had reached it’s peak in Java, and the wet mills were buzzing with cherry deliveries from local farmers. It’s still too early to start building a container, and but our selections will start soon. We typically consolidate Java with coffees from Sulawesi and Flores at the same time, and I expect to have updates to share in the next Outlook.

We’d mostly finalized our contracts from Sumatra prior to the trip, and part of this visit was to confirm quality, and see some of the processing first-hand. Our container should be loaded on a cargo ship in the next few weeks, with an ETA of mid-September. Tom shared some trip notes from these visits here.
South America
You might notice the lack of South American coffees represented below. That’s because we are just entering the buying period in Brazil, Colombia and Peru, with nothing booked at this time. Harvest came late in all three countries, so everything’s pushed back a bit. The good news is, we are receiving our first Colombian offer samples later this week, including coffees from southern regions of Huila, Cauca, and a few from the north, in Antioquia. Realistically, we don’t expect to have more Colombian coffee until September/October, followed by Brazil and Peru toward the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted with updates as we have them.
A detailed view of our launch schedule and list of coffees in-transit.
Scroll through the Upcoming Coffees lists below for an updated schedule of coffees rolling out through the rest of July. “Launch Week” is an estimate of when coffees will hit the site, but please keep in mind the timing can fluctuate due to issues outside our control. This rings especially true for coffees still transiting – specifically Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Uganda.
Also, a reminder that coffees in our “Incoming Coffees” list with a status of “ARRIVED”, means the container is in Oakland, but not yet in our possession. It generally takes a few weeks for incoming shipments to be physically moved to the offsite storage facility we use. Once they are transferred, they will be removed from our “Incoming” list. On that note, just because a coffee’s disappeared from the list, doesn’t mean you missed them. It means they are now in our possession and you will see them on a future launch schedule.
Below is a list of upcoming green coffees currently on the schedule to be added to our website over the next two months.

Please keep in mind that names may change when we list the coffee on our website. Location status of “TBD” are also a bit of a wild card, as logistical disruptions are out of our control! You also may notice some of the coffees from last month’s list have disappeared. Don’t worry, you probably haven’t missed them. They are now in our possession and should be on our launch schedule soon. Thanks for your patience!
