Stay up to date on coffee we have coming down the pipeline and our latest green coffee outlook and arrivals schedule.
Green Coffee Notes for June 2021:
- July is turning out to be a big month for arrivals. Our first Ethiopian coffees arrived (check out the first offers on Sweet Maria’s and Coffee Shrub), as well as containers with coffee from GuatemalaGuatemalan coffee is considered a top quality coffee producer in Central America. Due to our proximity to Guatemala, some of the nicest coffees from this origin come to..., NicaraguaNicaraguan coffees from the Segovia, Jinotega, Ocotal and Matagalpa regions are nice balanced cups. Unfortunately, agriculture... and KenyaKenya is the East African powerhouse of the coffee world. Both in the cup, and the way they run their trade, everything is topnotch.: Kenya is the East....
- Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a lag between this first Ethiopian container and the ones that follow it. As of right now, the next coffees aren’t set to arrive until August 6th, which means we won’t likely have reinforcements ready until the middle of August.
- We’re doing what we can to bridge the rather wide gap between these first coffees and the next, but you’ll see below that a lot of the coffees we have annually are on this next group of freight liners (including most of our dry processDry process coffee is a method for taking the fruit from the tree to an exportable green bean. - The Central American coffees that just landed all shared the same vessel (“Sealand Guayaquil” for those keeping track), which is being unloaded today, last I checked. Fingers crossed that we are able to access those coffees by early next week and can list some of our first coffees from sourcing projects and long term relationships like Guatemala Xinabajul, El Salvador Matalapa, Nicaragua Buenos Aires, and more.
- Overall, we are still seeing rolling ETA’s for our shipments. As such, we don’t expect to have quite as much Burundi coffee this year.
- As our Colombian offers start to dwindle, we are starting to receive new offers from Nariño and Inzá, coffees that will ship at the beginning of August.
- Liquid Amber blend is still on hold! Upcoming green coffees currently on the schedule to be added to our website:
*Please keep in mind the monthly outlook is partly based on ETA’s for coffees still en route to us. Coffees with a Location status of “In Transit” and “Arrived at Port” are not in our possession, subject to delays, and may be added to our site at a later month than what’s published here depending on when they become available to us. Thanks for understanding!

Five or six years ago you sold a forest grown Ethiopian coffee. Which of your Ethiopian offerings/upcoming offerings come closest to that Forest grown?
Hi Neil – I am taking a guess that this was coffee from Mankira cooperative in Kaffa. There’s quite a few coffees that might qualify as forest-grown in a loose sense, being that a in a lot of Ethiopian regions the farmers plant under the primary shade trees – they don’t clear the land them plant coffee in many places. But I think Mankira we might have really discussed the forested coffee there as it is a region that extends well into the Bonga forests… and the origin of arabica coffee. Anyway we had trouble getting coffee from Mankira for quite a few years due to variable harvests, and some issues with the Kafa coop organization too. We have our other nearby coop coffees coming in a few weeks. Such as Duromina, Genji Challa / Nano Challa , Kedemai, etc. So those are the most similar coffees, from Agaro and Gera areas.
Hey, how about Decafs? Any thing on the horizon?
Hey Bob, great question!
We do have a few on the way, including Peru Fair Trade Organic, and Honduras that should go up over the next two weeks, and Nicaragua and Mexico that will be available in early September. All 4 of these coffees are Swiss Water Process decafs.
If you haven’t looked at the list in a couple of days, we just relaunched the remaining stock on Ethiopia and a couple other decafs as well.
Thanks!
Dan
Any update on the Monsooned Malabar?
Hey Timothy, good timing on this question. We recently approved a new arrival of Monsoon Malabar and plan on launching Liquid Amber this Friday. We bought a healthy volume of the Monsoon and an Indian Robusta so that we can keep it going for a while too 🙂
Who knows, we may even launch some Monsoon as a single origin down the line.
Best,
Dan
